How can we build fertile soils in the desert?

0 %

Organic Matter and Clay Content

Typical Saudi soils are 90% sand and 10% silt with high carbonate. It makes them extremely poor soils.
0 %

Nutrient Holding Capacity

Sandy soils don’t have the capacity to hold nutrients. They are prone to leaching and fertilizer loss.
0 %

Water Holding Capacity

Due to large particle sizes and poor structure, sandy soils present very poor ability to hold water.

PLANTING TARGET

The Saudi Green Initiative aims at greening cities and desert areas with an ambitious target of 10 billion trees. This target will need to be executed at an average of 1 million trees per day for 30 years

COMPANY HISTORY

Terraxy is on a mission to create sustainable soil fertility that lasts.

Terraxy is a spin-off from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Terraxy was founded in 2023, by Caltech-PhD and KAUST professor, Himanshu Mishra, and his former PhD student, Adair Gallo. After several years of R&D at KAUST, the duo gathered forces with other team members to start the company.
